How do I setup Instant Invoice n Cashbook in a multi-user network environment ?

You can setup Instant Invoice n Cashbook 10 to work in a multi-user network environment. When installed correctly, updates to the database done by one user will be available to all other users sitting on their own computers. When more than one user attempts to create a new invoice, the first user will get invoice no# 1001, 2nd user will get 1002 and so on.

Requirements

First you need to have either Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista or Windows Server computers or laptops. If you have a Windows Server 2012, 2008R2 2008 or 2003, you can host the data files on the server or you can also host the data files on one of the workstations if you do not have a dedicated Windows Server.

These computers must be connected in a LAN (Local Area Network). I.e. connected with a Router or Hub. Faster performance is obtained when the workstations are connected via cable as opposed to a wifi.

Setup

1. Download and install the Instant Invoice n Cashbook 10 on the main computer or server that will host the database files.

2. Using the menu option Database | New, create a new database in a shared network folder such that each Windows user will have read and write permissions to the folder. We recommend using the Public | Documents folder then turn on public sharing on this folder

3. Once at a time, install Instant Invoice n Cashbook 10 on the other computers. Install the program to the local hard disk (e.g C: drive). At the open database dialog, click the [Browse] button and locate the database folder on the host or server computer over the network.

Basically that’s it. When you purchase Instant Invoice n Cashbook 10, you need to purchase the 3 user license or more. With the multi-user license, “user permissions” is enabled. This means that each user has to open the database with their own account (username/ password). You can specify user account types such as “Standard User”, “Supervisor” or “Administrator”. The account types determine what permissions the user has on the database. For example the Standard User will not be permitted to delete records or modify invoice and report layouts.
